NFL To Make Play-By-Play Audio Available On Its New Subscription App.
JULY 26, 2022

The National Football League is expanding its role as a distributor of play-by-play audio. It is launching the video streaming subscription service NFL+, which for a $4.99 per month price tag will also give users access to audio play-by-play of all the games including both the local announcing teams and national play-by-play feeds.
"Today marks an important day in the history of the National Football League with the launch of NFL+," said Commissioner Roger Goodell. "The passionate and dedicated football fans are the lifeblood of the NFL, and being able to reach and interact with them across multiple platforms is incredibly important to us,” he said in the announcement.
The ad-free NFL+ will primarily be a video-focused app with mobile and tablet versions of the app that will feature live local and primetime games. It will also include live out-of-market preseason TV games, and a library of NFL video programing on-demand. The price is $4.99 per month or $39.99 per year.
The NFL is also offering a more expensive app option called NFL+ Premium. It will also include full-game video replays, condensed game replays, and Coaches Film including All-22, the technology that gives coaches a bird’s-eye view of the game to see how all 22 players move in a given play. It retails for $9.99 per month or $79.99 a year.
NFL+ builds on the earlier online and mobile success of NFL Game Pass, which will no longer be offered in the U.S. With the growth of OTT video, the league says the updated apps will deliver a more “marquee direct-to-consumer experience.”
“We look forward to continuing to grow NFL+ and deepening our relationship with fans across all ages and demographics, providing them access to a tremendous amount of NFL content, including the most valuable content in the media industry: live NFL games,” said Goodell.
